Show Love With Boundaries
Updated: Jul 8, 2019
This is my commandment that you love one another that your joy may be full.
I remember this song as a little girl and it stuck with me for many years.
Sometimes I loved people so much I got hurt in the process. Also, at the time I did not know much about boundaries and using the word “No”. I became a people-pleaser. That only did more harm than good over the years. I became a slave to people and their ideas and wants.
When I learned not to be a people-pleaser and make choices for myself and learned how to say no, wow, it gave me freedom. I learned to only please God and that is what truly mattered. Even though I made the choice to please God and not people, the attacks of words came at me because I was no longer going to be controlled by people. Through this, it made me stronger in the Lord. Jesus was on my side.
Gods word also states hate what is evil and cling to what is good. That does not mean to stop loving others. It means we do what is right in spite of all the wrong that may be around us. Speak when he says to speak and to also be silent. Actions speak louder than words.
